Half This Stuff is Made Up - Twice in One Day

Twice in One Day Well, we've been back from the beach almost a week and I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted something. We had a great trip and I learned that if I set my beach chair in the breaking surf, so that the incoming waves broke against my feet and washed up under the chair, I could pee without even moving. I still had to reach over to the cooler that sat on a chair beside me for beer and I still had to expend a fair amount of energy prying up the little, metal tag thingy on top of the can.

The first day back, last Monday, I spent catching up on correspondence, invoicing, paying bills, unpacking and putting my surveying equipment back in the truck. That night, Edie called me at 11:30 PM, just as I was getting into bed, to tell me she needed a ride because her car wouldn't start. She was over at Scott's house so it wasn't too bad. On Tuesday, Scott and I drove up to Ruckersville, Virginia to lay out a McDonald's restaurant then to St. Cat's to lay out a new parking lot.
Wednesday was basically more of the same and Thursday I got stung by a white-faced hornet while Scott, Zack and I were brushing out a 2500 foot line down in Charles City County on John Tyler's plantation. At first I thought a thorn (we call them "briers") had stuck in my hand but after about half a second I realized I was being stung and I threw down my machete and ran back the way I'd come. Fortunately, those kind don't chase and swarm like some other bees -- yellow jackets for example.
On Friday they put out some fish tacos at Legend and I had one. Woody, the guy with severely atrophied leg muscles, had 3 or 4. When I met up with Nina after work, she wanted to go to a wine tasting and while we were there we bought 4 fish tacos from a vendor who was selling them out of a truck. It's weird that I would eat fish tacos twice in one day since I don't think I've ever eaten them even once in one day.
